Corrine & Jack
How did you meet?
We met on the first day of high school! We were in the same form group, Jack sat two rows in front of me but Jack played sports and I listened to rock music so we didn't connect until later on when our friendship groups merged. A mutual friend suggested we'd be great together and she was right! We've been together since we were 17 and wouldn't change a thing!
What made you choose Haarlem as your wedding venue?
Walking into Haarlem Mill felt like walking into your best friends house (albeit a very fancy three story house with multiple bars and a dressing room).
We wanted a day to feel like a celebration for everyone, where everyone felt welcome and relaxed and we instantly felt that at Haarlem when Shannon showed us around. Nothing was too much to ask and the whole team were so accommodating, flexible and friendly and that was all before we even saw the amazing food options!
Practically, we knew we also wanted a venue that would suit everything the British weather could throw at us! Having separate rooms for the ceremony, canapés, wedding breakfast and outdoor space meant our guests were happy all day!
What has been your favourite part of planning your wedding?
Finding our venue was a game changer for us. Befor we had our venue in place we couldn't really picture what our day would look like. We wanted somewhere we could be as low key or as extra as we felt as our plans emerged. After securing Haarlem we could really start picture what our day could be ... and then we met with Tara!
After booking and chatting with Tara at Haarlem she really bought our mishmash of plans to life, she bought all our ideas together alongside all her knowledge and what works well at Haarlem Mill. After sharing pictures and ideas at the venue we were super excited!
Tell us a bit about your theme or colour scheme?
When we viewed Haarlem initially it was decorated with warm terracotta runners ready for an event the next day and we thought it was so warm and comforting! We kept a warm colour palette with hints of black and white and disco balls to keep it modern and fun.
Together we made our own welcome signage and order of the day, stationary (menus, place cards and QR code for photos) and table plan. Apart from that, we left the rest to the experts!
With styling and florals we really can't take any credit! We gave Tara and Charlotte our colour scheme and then gave them free reign with the rest allowing them to decide what they thought would work best and compliment the venue, they absolute blew us away with their talents.
Our other contribution to the day was our desert table. Corrine's mum (with last minute help from Shannon!) made our wedding cake and we asked our close friends and family to provide cakes and sweet treats for a dessert table. The dessert table served as favours and we made doggie bags, with our dog Indie on the front, for everyone to help themselves!
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Corrine - I enjoyed the ceremony so much, I expected to be nervous and scared of speaking but it was wonderful. My brother played guitar for our ceremony music and as soon as I heard him playing I couldn't stop smiling and I just couldn't wait to get in and see everyone and hug Jack as I got to the end of the isle. The registrars were lovely befor, during and after
Jack - My favourite part was our first dance we chose Forever by Chris Brown. I was in charge of booking the band and I chatted to them about keeping it upbeat. Everyone knew what our song was and they found it so funny so it made us excited! When we were 15 we saw Chris Brown in concert who Jack loved when we were younger, so it made sence to go with it!
