How did you meet?

We met at a 21st birthday party in Preston in 2012! The theme was 'escape from the zoo', and Tom was in a tiger onesie and Gemma was a leopard. There were so many of us running around dressed up as animals that people thought they'd missed a themed night at the nightclub!

What made you choose Haarlem as your wedding venue?

We first visited Haarlem in December 2020, but then put off getting married for a couple of years while we bought our first house and moved back to Doncaster from Cambridge. When we got back round to planning a wedding, despite seeing other venues, Haarlem was still on both our minds. We loved the relaxed and rustic feel; it was like no other wedding venue we'd seen before. It suited us perfectly, and so many of our guests commented on how beautiful the mill is.

What has been your favourite part of planning your wedding?

Tasting food and cake! And knowing we'd have all our favourite people together in one place :)

Tell us a bit about your theme or colour scheme? What inspired you, have you made anything yourself or added any personal touches?

Our colour scheme was forest green and pink; they're our favourite colours, and we thought they complemented each other really well. We LOVED our welcome sign and the mirrorballs we had dotted around the venue! Our favourite personal touch on the day was the cake topper of our cocker spaniel, Barney!

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

The confetti storm; there was so much confetti we couldn't see anything in front of us, but could hear all our family and friends cheering! And also the five minutes straight after the ceremony where we had a glass of prosecco and a bit of time to ourselves to bring the adrenaline down and have a breather. But the day was mostly a blur!!
